Status Effects are an element of gameplay during battles. They are conditions the player can receive and cast which cause additional effects to occur depending on the status effect. It should be noted not all status effects are harmful, as some possess beneficial qualities.
Harmful Status Effects

A character with the confused status effect will auto attack for three turns. While confused, these attacks have the potential to harm the user, causing them to damage themselves. A character can be cured of confusion through the use of the HorrorVale Wiki item (Yes really, it's a thing).
A character with the curse status effect is unable to use Fear Abilities. It is acquired from talking with a specific NPC in North Avenue but can be easily cured by interacting with any save coffin.
Helpful Status Effects
Unlike most games, as HorrorVale involves the undead, the Poison status effect is more comparable to a Regeneration ability. A character who has been poisoned will regain Death Points at the end of each turn.
An status effect identical to the Poison status effect but more powerful. It is an ability possessed by Bolt which allows him to recover Death Points over the span of many turns.
